Visual Solution Lab (VSL) at Samsung Research America (SRA) is an advanced core R&D research team for consumer display systems and dedicated to build the market #1 consumer display branding power using the latest AI technologies.

VSL plays a pivotal role in developing the next generation AI algorithms for display picture quality enhancement technologies and also spanning the research domain to multi-modal AI for future products that can enrich your life.

Position Summary: 

In this opportunity, you will work with a team of researchers and engineers tackling real-world problems. You will have the opportunity to publish at top-tier conferences in AI, computer vision, and more. As a research scientist, you will be involved in very promising team projects with talented people at SRA. You will benefit a lot by working in a fun and creative environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in advanced state-of-the-art generative models for 2D or 3D video generation from multiple modalities including but not limited to image and text using Diffusion, GANs, VAEs, Vision Transformers, VLMs …
  • Design and run large scale experiments to evaluate the performance on various tasks.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues and teams to develop proof of concept and demos.
  • Summarize findings in top-tier journals and international conferences.

Required Skills: 

  • Currently enrolled in PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent field of study
  • Research experiences in fields like Computer Vision, Machine learning, Image Processing or any related R&D Experience with AI Technologies
  • Experience with latest generative models and how to fine-tune them for different tasks
  • Experience with ML frameworks such as: Pytorch, TensorFLow, Keras, etc.
  • Experience in CI/CD platforms, e.g. GitHub
  • Self-directed, flexible, goal oriented and strong sense of ownership
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; experience presenting complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences 

Special Attributes:

  • Ability to address data limitation by leveraging techniques like pre-trained models, synthetic data and few-shot learning
  • Experience with Scene Segmentation methods such as SAM
  • Experience with AI Agents
  • Experience with latest 3D representations such as Gaussian Splatting
  • Experience in knowledge distillation or student teacher concepts
  • Proven track record of achieving significant research results as demonstrated by publications in top-tier peer reviewed conferences (e.g. CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, SIGGRAPH, …) or journals

The hourly pay rate range for roles at this level is listed below, but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the hourly pay rate range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.
