The Role
Uplisting is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead the performance, growth, and cohesion of our engineering team. You’ll foster a collaborative, supportive, and energetic environment while overseeing day-to-day operations across processes, QA, product alignment, and delivery. Beyond managing execution, you’ll provide hands-on guidance and mentoring to individual contributors, help set strategic direction in partnership with Product, and ensure the team consistently meets its development targets. This role is equal parts people leadership, technical stewardship, and operational excellence , creating the conditions for engineers to do their best work and for the platform to scale with confidence.
Here's what you'll get to do:
- Lead a high-performing engineering team through clear vision, structure, and day-to-day direction
- Drive engineering excellence by owning core KPIs (availability, cycle time, defect rates, engineering velocity)
- Partner closely with Product and leadership to shape platform strategy and prioritization
- Ensure security, privacy, and ethical considerations are integrated into development practices
- Build team capability through hiring, onboarding, coaching, career development, and mentorship
- Establish scalable processes, norms, and standards that support efficient, high-quality development
- Delegate effectively while empowering engineers to make technical decisions
- Identify and deliver cross-team initiatives that improve reliability, developer experience, and engineering efficiency
- Make informed evaluations and recommendations on promotions, compensation, and performance
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and ensure engineering decisions support business outcomes
Here's what you'll need to be successful:
- 6+ years of engineering leadership experience, leading high-performing teams
- 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- 4+ years working with Ruby/Hanami (or other Ruby-based frameworks)
- 3+ years of infrastructure experience (Heroku and/or AWS)
- Significant, relevant hands-on engineering experience plus team leadership experience
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to delegate with trust and empower teams to succeed
- Strong understanding of business drivers and how engineering decisions impact
- Ability to maintain strong relationships in a multicultural-diverse environment
- Comfort working with remote teams and contractors
Here's what would be nice to have:
- AWS knowledge and/or experience
- SaaS scaling experience
- Property tech, B2B SaaS, or PMS exposure
- Prior Technical leadership in scaling a SaaS platform from startup to growth stage
Here's what you can expect from us:
- Any hire made outside of Spain would be a full-time contractor. Benefits for remote UK contractors include:
- Salary range: 120,000 - 130,000 GBP

£500 - £590 a day
