Essential Functions Test architecture: Design modular, reusable automation frameworks across unit, integration, contract/API, UI, performance, and reliability tests (favor API/service-level checks). CI/CD quality gates: Build and own YAML-based pipelines (Azure DevOps) with parallelization, artifact management, environment provisioning, quality gates, and flaky-test quarantine. Infrastructure as Code (AWS): Define and maintain cloud environments using Terraform and/or CloudFormation/CDK; champion policy-as-code and secure configuration. Ephemeral environments: Use containers to spin up disposable integration systems; apply mocking/virtualization where appropriate. Observability for tests: Instrument logs/metrics/traces, define SLIs/SLOs, and build dashboards for build health and flake rates. Shift-left collaboration: Partner with product/engineering on acceptance criteria, testability, and design/code reviews. Hands-on coding: Contribute high-quality C#/.NET and TypeScript code to product and test repos; craft maintainable test harnesses, utilities, and shared libraries. Test data: Establish strategies for synthetic data, seeding, anonymization, and repeatable fixtures. Security & performance: Integrate dependency, security, and performance/soak checks into pipelines. Mentorship & documentation: Uplevel peers with clear docs, runbooks, and coaching; model continuous learning. Requirements Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years in software and/or test engineering for distributed applications. Strong programming skills in a modern language (C#/.NET preferred); solid design fundamentals. Demonstrated experience designing automation frameworks across multiple layers (API-first emphasis). Practical CI/CD experience with pipeline-as-code and automated quality controls on a contemporary platform. Hands-on IaC on AWS using one or more tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK). Cloud fundamentals: containers/orchestration, serverless and/or microservices, IAM/networking basics. Data layer familiarity: relational SQL and exposure to at least one NoSQL store. Proficiency with Git, code reviews, and Agile/Scrum; strong communication and mentoring skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at, or near, the top of the range for their role; and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The range for this role is $90,000 - $140,000.
