Description Our client, a leading manufacturer of window and door hardware with over 45 years of experience in Connecticut, is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a design engineer looking to make a tangible impact in product development while working in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with an on-site testing lab and training center. Key Responsibilities Design and develop locking, operating, and rolling components for residential window and door applications using 3D CAD software Lead new product development initiatives from concept through launch, adhering to established stage-gate processes Drive value engineering and continuous improvement activities for both existing and new products Interface directly with sales teams and customers to develop market-driven technical solutions Develop and execute test protocols to ensure products meet industry performance benchmarks and operational requirements Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Quality Control departments to resolve production-related challenges Collaborate with domestic and overseas suppliers to optimize designs for volume production and budget targets Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation in accordance with document control protocols Participate in Lean manufacturing activities and contribute to operational excellence initiatives Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Minimum 5 years of design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with CREO CAD software (this is essential) Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including die-casting, injection molding, and metal stamping Demonstrated knowledge of machine design, kinematics, dynamics, and structural analysis Working knowledge of materials including metals, plastics, and coatings Proficiency in both 2D and 3D CAD applications Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively Clear communication skills for cross-functional collaboration Mechanical aptitude and hands-on approach to engineering challenges Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and traverse production facility as needed Occasional travel (approximately 20% annually) to suppliers and customers Preferred Qualifications Experience in the window and door (fenestration) industry or building materials sector Background in product management from concept through commercial launch Exposure to value engineering and cost reduction initiatives Experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment Familiarity with industry testing standards (AAMA, NAFS, ASTM) Project management experience Benefits Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000 annually (commensurate with experience) Comprehensive benefits package: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, company-paid life insurance and short-term disability Equal Employment Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy Equal Employment Opportunity Statement: Both Keller Executive Search and our clients are Equal Opportunity Employers.
