Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director of High School Redesign, this role collaborates with school-based staff, network level leaders, and external partners to plan and implement best in class career connected learning models at high school campuses across the network.
Essential Job Functions:
- Health Institute at Hardy
- Collaborate with external partners to develop health care career connected learning elective courses and curriculum in close collaboration with central office leaders, school leaders, Hardy staff and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia staff
- Lead facilitation of cross-functional working groups with staff from high schools, central office and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia partners to ensure career-connected learning academic model and curriculum development is meeting stakeholder needs and to gather feedback on draft deliverables
- Develop and co-facilitate trainings with high school leadership team with middle school teachers on incorporating project-based learning with a career-connected learning focus in to core content area classrooms
- Partner with school-based leaders and external partners to develop and progress monitor the quality of student-facing work-based learning experiences, including in-class guest speakers, field trips to CHOP facilities, job shadowing, internships and other efforts
- Lead the model development and planning of high-quality summer programming focused on shoring up academic preparation, durable skills and career pathway exploration to support incoming high school students on getting off to a strong start
- Collaborate closely with high school leadership teams and staff by serving as a thought partner and trusted advisor in supporting high-quality career-connected learning model implementation
- Lenfest Future Educators Academy
- Provide teacher and Assistant Principal, Postsecondary coaching focused on building capacity to ensure high-quality daily instruction in new education-focused career pathway course for high school students
- Collaborate with teacher and school leadership team to plan for and execute high-quality work-based learning opportunities for students, including excellent school visits, field trips to colleges in education and paid summer work opportunities
- Lead coordination and management of the partnership with the Center for Black Educator Development on curriculum development and implementation
- Lead monitoring and support of program to ensure full compliance with all Pennsylvania Department of Education CTE compliance regulations
- High School Summer Learning & Credit Recovery
- Plan for and develop high school learning model, planning resources and tools for schools
- Lead training and ongoing support of Summer Learning Leaders to manage strong summer learning programming at each of their high school campuses
- Monitor course completion and grades data and provide support to Assistant Principals of Postsecondary on during the school year credit recovery implementation
Other Job Functions:
- Support the recruitment, coaching, professional learning and development of CTE and career pathway teachers, including design and facilitation of central staff professional development sessions throughout the school year and over the summer
- Support the development and launch of new career connected learning pathway programs across Mastery’s high school campuses
- Actively participate in and support high school redesign working groups aligned with Mastery’s Plan 2029 long-term strategic plan
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Career and Technical Education regulations and policies preferred
- High degree of emotional intelligence and adaptive leadership skills
- Ability to lead within a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly-changing environment
- Collaborative spirit, strong work ethic, and sense of humor
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
- At least three years of high school instructional leadership experience as a teacher leader, Assistant Principal or central office leader with documented impact on student achievement outcomes
- Minimum of five years of experience developing and leading high school programming, career connected learning and/or work-based learning
Other requirements:
- Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role as outlined above, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as traveling to network campuses, monitoring and interacting with students, in-person facilitation of trainings, etc.;
- This role may require frequent travel between multiple locations. Reliable transportation is essential to fulfill job responsibilities.
Salary Information
- The Director of High School Redesign at Mastery can expect a starting salary between $98,325 to $102,465, based on education and experience, with opportunities for growth as your career progresses.
