Share this job SVGs not supported by this browser. Description City Cast is seeking an experienced audio mixer/engineer to support our local podcast teams as they produce daily news shows remotely. We are looking for a skilled freelancer who is committed to staying independent but enjoys collaborating with production teams. The ideal candidate has a sharp ear for quality, thrives in deadline-driven environments, and can adapt to working across multiple time zones. This is a contract position. Key Responsibilities Assemble and finalize podcast episodes in Adobe Audition, including adjusting effects, EQ’ing, leveling track grains, addressing reverb, sibilance, and background noise as needed, and running episodes through match loudness. Apply and manage AUD effects in Audition with precision and consistency. Provide feedback and flag issues such as choppiness, overprocessing, or underprocessing in mixes. Work with production teams on a flexible schedule (up to 8 hours on weekdays) and across multiple time zones. Use tools like Izotope (preferred) to enhance audio quality when necessary. Record remotely using Riverside, Zoom, or Descript Rooms, and guide guests and hosts through setup and troubleshooting. Occasionally support other parts of production such as scripting, writing show notes and episode titles, and conducting basic research when needed. Requirements Requirements Demonstrated expertise in Adobe Audition, particularly with AUD effects, EQ’ing, and finalizing episodes. Experience with Izotope preferred. Strong ear for audio quality and ability to identify and resolve subtle issues in a mix. Comfortable collaborating with multiple teams and adjusting to varying workflows and schedules. Basic experience with other aspects of podcast production (scripting, show notes, titles, research) and willingness to assist as needed. Reliable, communicative, and able to meet tight deadlines. The contractor role will report to the Director of Production and Senior Roving Producer at City Cast. The hourly rate range is $35-$38, based on experience. Apply for this job
