About the Company

We’re Uptiv Health, transforming the experience of infusion care for millions of Americans with complex chronic conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and others. We partner with care teams across referring doctors, families and caregivers, primary care doctors, health systems, and insurance plans to provide holistic and personalized care that goes beyond the four walls of our state-of-the-art clinics. Our hybrid model blends human-centered design, advanced automation, and intelligent data systems. As we expand into more markets and product offerings, we’re seeking a Lead Engineer to take full technical ownership of our platform architecture, integrations, technical systems, and AI development roadmap.

About the Role

As Lead Engineer at Uptiv Health, you’ll serve as the technical backbone of a fast-scaling healthcare company. You will own, design, and evolve a scalable, interoperable, and AI-enabled platform that connects clinical, operational, and data systems across the organization, as well as those of stakeholder and partner organizations (referring physicians, payers, patients, etc.).

This is a senior leadership role that combines strategic architecture, technical leadership, and hands-on coding, with a strong focus on AI-first development and seamless interoperability across clinical, operational, and data systems. The role demands a balance of deep internal focus—building the technical backbone that powers our growth—and the ability to collaborate externally with technology partners, innovators, and vendors to drive better experiences and accelerate innovation across our ecosystem.

In This Role, You Will

  • Own the technical roadmap and architecture, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and built for scale.
  • Contribute to technology budgeting and forecasting. Partner with executive and financial teams to model and monitor the financial impact of technology decisions, including infrastructure cost, AI model training/serving expenses, and run-rate optimization.
  • Champion an AI-first development approach, embedding intelligence and automation into core platforms and workflows.
  • Lead system interoperability, designing flexible APIs and data models that enable seamless connectivity across internal and external systems.
  • Drive engineering excellence through strong development practices, testing, observability, and DevOps discipline.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Operations, and Clinical leaders to translate business goals into scalable technical solutions. Work with remote and distributed teams to drive most effective implementation of the strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and partners, fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and quality.
  • Evaluate and manage 3rd party vendors, ensuring technology decisions align with Uptiv’s long-term platform vision.
  • Utilize human-centered design principles and behavioral insights in collaboration with product and design teams and end users, to deliver solutions focused on improved end user experience and engagement.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8–10+ years of full-stack engineering experience, including technical leadership in healthcare.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast-changing environments, experience in start ups.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to bridge technical and business perspectives.
  • Experience successfully working with remote and distributed teams.
  • Must be customer obsessed and have a zest for improving current healthcare models; experience developing consumer end-user platforms a plus.
  • Understanding of cloud cost optimization, margin analysis, and how technology investments translate to business metrics and user experiences.
  • Hands-on experience building with AI/ML models, orchestration frameworks, AI agents and integrating AI toolkits into software engineering processes (ex. Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Cursor, etc.) that optimize the engineering lifecycle (build, test, deploy, documentation, communications).
  • Hands-on experience launching products with AI solutions embedded as part of the offering.
  • Experience designing data lakehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery) and operationalizing AI models through secure, compliant data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.
  • Proven success leading system architecture in production healthcare environments at scale and understanding of privacy-preserving data architecture (HIPAA, PHI, etc.).
  • Deep experience with Python, Node.js, or Go.
  • Expertise in React, Angular, or similar modern frontend framework.
  • Proficient in designing robust  APIs and experience developing secure, distributed microservices.
  • Expertise in healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, EDI, payer APIs).
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps, IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
  • Previous success in building integrations and automation between EMR, CRM, RCM and other distributed systems.
