About the role

You will be responsible for helping to establish and run Chalk’s accounting function. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy and operational excellence, supporting the company as it scales. This is an opportunity to join us in-person as an early team member and make a visible impact at a high-growth startup.

We work in-person Monday through Friday in our SF office. 

What you will do

• Support core accounting operations, including month-end close, reconciliations, and day-to-day financial processes.
• Manage vendor payments, invoicing, and general accounts receivable/payable activities.
• Create, document, and refine accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems, workflows, and financial processes as Chalk scales.

What we’re looking for

• 1–3 years of hands-on accounting experience. Must have Big 4 experience. 
• Experience managing invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a strong sense of ownership over accuracy and timeliness.

Bonus points

• Familiarity with Rippling and Ramp
• Exposure to FP&A, cash flow management, or internal controls
• Interest in automation, financial operations, and scaling accounting functions at an early-stage startup

Compensation

Range: Salary + Equity based on experience 

Actual compensation awarded to successful candidates will be based on several factors, including individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
