Share this job SVGs not supported by this browser. Description Resource Innovations is seeking an Energy Efficiency Engineer to join our growing team in Chicago, IL. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer with a strong background in engineering and a passion for energy efficiency. The Engineer will work with customers to implement energy-saving projects (e.g., upgrades to the facility’s lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, compressed air, and/or process equipment systems) by quantifying and summarizing project savings, supporting project execution, and verifying installation. Duties and Responsibilities Review submissions of energy saving upgrade projects, including reports, savings calculations, and project documentation, to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with program requirements. Assist contractors and customers to select appropriate energy efficiency equipment that would qualify for equipment rebates from the utility. Maintain the highest level of quality control for deliverables, demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining and advancing projects. Communicates, coordinates, and assists project stakeholders and participants including program staff, contractors, and utility customers to help ensure customers are maximizing the benefits of utility programs. Develop and update efficiency measures for the program and support other program enhancing improvements. Support may include completing economic analysis, collaborating with other functional groups, and/or developing calculations to quantify energy impacts of new program measures. Conduct site visits to verify installation and operation of replacement energy efficient equipment. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Must be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Chicago, IL area within 30 days of acceptance Must be comfortable travelling in Northern IL Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering preferred) 1-3 years of experience (within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industry preferred) An understanding of electric energy using systems of commercial and industrial facilities including equipment controls and optimization and/or sustainability practices Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and have a personal vehicle to visit customer sites Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment Strong proficiency with oral communication, writing, and analytical skills. Planning, coordinating, organization, and self-management in a professional environment a must. Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment. Preferred skills, education and experience Experience calculating energy savings for commercial HVAC and/or industrial process energy efficiency improvements Familiarity with relevant energy efficiency codes and standards (e.g. ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, Code of Federal Regulations etc.) P.E., C.E.M., and/or LEED AP BD+C® certification (or on track to receive) is highly desirable Experience in the following areas is a plus: Design and specification of HVAC, electrical, or building automation/controls Building and energy modeling/simulation tools (e.g. eQUEST, EnergyPro) Industrial systems such as compressed air, refrigeration, process cooling Benefits About Resource Innovations Resource Innovations (RI) is a women-led energy transformation firm focused on impact . Compensation & Benefits Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position. The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes three weeks of paid vacation per year; paid holidays; a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer matching; health, dental and vision insurance; and other supplemental benefits.
