Position End Date: 9/29/2026
Salary: $108,000 plus benefits
Overview:
The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staff to support surveillance, prevention, and response activities within the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for Senior Project Manager position to support the implementation of the request for application process to jurisdictions to identify staffing needs; strategic thinking around meeting the jurisdictions’ needs in a timely manner through expedited hiring and supervising the Project Managers and managing project activities. The Senior Project Manager will report to the Senior Portfolio Manager, manage a team of direct reports, and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project.
Required Qualifications:
· Education
o Master’s degree, preferably in Public Health, or a related field such as health policy, health promotion, global health, or health administration
o Or a bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of seven years of experience in public health or a related field
· Professional Experience
o A minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership in a public health, non-profit, or related program work in the public health community
· Supervisory Leadership
o At least four years supervising others and leading a multi-level teams
o Demonstrated ability to work well independently and supervising a team
o Demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility and leadership
o Experience cultivating a team atmosphere in remote environments
· Program Management
o Demonstrated management of federal and non-federal budgets, including design and implementation of program budgets
o Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration among internal partners, including Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Compliance, and Payroll
o Experience managing multiple programs, including deliverables and deadlines
o Experience in program evaluation, including report writing and editing
· Stakeholder Engagement
o Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and engaging in strategic external partnership
o Excellent customer service and servant leadership to both internal and external stakeholders
· Skills and Qualities
o Ability to successfully manage individual workload, while also supporting a multi-level team
o Excellence in judgment and decision-making, with strong analytical skills, business intuition and acumen
o Strong verbal and written presentation skills
o Ability to work on weekends, after hours, and to travel domestically as required
o Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, strong written and verbal communication skills
o Working knowledge of Smartsheet and Salesforce
Responsibilities:
o Manages up to seven direct reports responsible for managing indirect field employees across the nation, as well as up to 15 field employees
o Oversees complex jurisdictional partnerships across a specified region
o Troubleshoots escalated issues related to projects, serves as back up support for the Project Managers, and supports Programmatic Leadership
o Collaborate with Project Managers and Recruiters to ensure staffing targets are met, troubleshooting issues when needed
o Manages significant matters such as program development, program budgeting, and auditing/evaluating program impact and performance
o Provides quality control over monthly expenditure report and invoice reviews
o Supervises preparation and submission of narrative and financial reports or updates to donors in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
o Works with internal partners and Programmatic Leadership to implement systems and processes to ensure consistent, high-quality project management
o Keep abreast of and develop specialized knowledge of significant overdose prevention and response efforts across the nation and the OD2A program
o Fosters and maintains peer-to-peer relationships with subject matter experts, donors, partners, and other stakeholders aimed at efficient and effective program implementation
o Contributes to resource mobilization efforts for the assigned programs in consultation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
o Represents the CDC Foundation at technical, policy, and strategic planning meetings with internal and external stakeholders and evaluate strategies that meet public health missions and goals
o Serves as the contact person in the absence of team members, in this capacity
o Prepares, negotiates, and monitors program-related contracts, agreements, and amendments.
o Support projects that enhance public health/public safety collaborations through the identification of appropriate local partners, qualitative and quantitative data collection, and dissemination of project findings
o Formulates program-related goals, objectives, operating policies, strategic plans, guidelines, governance, standards, and priorities to ensure consistency with departmental standard operating procedures
o Supports Programmatic Leadership in the preparation, negotiation, and monitoring of program-related contracts, agreements, and amendments in designated region
