About the Role
Grassroots Analytics is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Specialist to join our dynamic team and help ensure the integrity and compliance of our work in grassroots fundraising and data-driven campaign operations. In this role, you will support contract review and negotiation, manage regulatory and privacy obligations, monitor evolving campaign and nonprofit legal requirements, and partner closely with internal teams to ensure that our practices are aligned with best-in-class standards. Key Responsibilities
- Keep track of changes in legal framework and providing timely updates on these changes
- Assist General Counsel by communicating with clients and departments to gather information and provide updates
- Assist with administrative duties such as managing correspondence, coordinating meetings, and preparing reports
- Review and analyze documents for accuracy and compliance
- Prepare and organize exhibits for court and or board meetings
- Assist in the management of case files and legal correspondence
- Assist General Counsel with litigation preparation, including organizing evidence, managing discovery, and preparing for trials or hearings
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files, document databases, and matter management systems
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements
- Support the General Counsel in ensuring company compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
- Assist with managing, resolving, and preventing legal disputes
- Support corporate governance, including filings and recordkeeping
- Assist with execution of legal risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential liabilities
- Assist with internal investigations
- Assist with oversight of intellectual property protection, including trademarks and confidentiality agreements
- Support monitoring and analysis of legislative and regulatory changes relevant to the company’s operations
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions
Minimum Qualifications
- A law degree from an accredited law school.
- Successful completion of a licensing exam and active license to practice law in any jurisdiction.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM and marketing platforms (Salesforce, Pardot, LinkedIn) a plus
- Professional, proactive, and collaborative team player
- 1–7 years of litigation or legal experience.
- Experience working in a law firm setting is often preferred.
- Experience with specific areas like corporate governance and risk mitigation is a plus.
- Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for advising clients and working with senior attorneys.
- Proficiency with legal research databases (like Westlaw or LexisNexis), case management software, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to carry out instructions in a timely manner, strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to perform under stress and manage multiple priorities are also often mentioned.
The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $60,000 plus benefits, with the possibility of signing and performance bonuses. This is a full-time, in-office position based in our office in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Candidates must be willing to work in-office.
We offer 33 days of PTO + two days for every year with GA; 11 federal holidays; and full office closure between Christmas and New Years.
