JOB SUMMARY: The BSA/AML Alert Analyst is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day BSA/AML operations within the Financial Intelligence Unit of Forbright Bank. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, investigating BSA/AML transaction monitoring, customer due diligence, and sanctions screening alerts; conducting initial due diligence reviews of higher risk accounts; escalating unusual activity identified through alert investigations; and performing Due Diligence on customers and bank accounts. BSA/AML Alert analysts are responsible for understanding Corporate policies and procedures pertaining to AML and Sanctions Compliance topics, keeping up to date on regulations, and ensuring timely reporting of all activity to the BSA Officer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigate accounts and customers alerted by the Bank’s BSA/AML systems for money laundering and other criminal activities using internal systems, transaction analysis, and open source research
- Perform initial due diligence reviews and KYC new account review controls monitoring processes
- Produce well-written narratives to disposition results of alert investigations and escalate unusual activity identified for additional review
- Monitor and respond to inquiries sent through department email inboxes and JIRA workflows
- Assist with the generation and submission of CTRs to FinCEN as needed
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding potentially suspicious activity in order to maintain confidentiality
- Act as a BSA, AML and OFAC subject matter expert to identify process improvements, respond to inquiries from internal business lines, and suggestcontent for various training initiatives
- Collaborate with the BSA/AML team through participation in round tables, staff meetings, and training
- Participate in the development, maintenance, and updating of the team procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Finance, Economics,related field, or equivelant work experience required
- Minimum of 3 years of overall of work experience required, preferably in a financial institution or in a Compliance-related position, including BSA/AML and Sanctions regulations
- Knowledge of branch and digital products and services (consumer, business, and lending)
- Strong understanding of banking regulations, including the BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC
- Proficiency with Verafin software is a plus
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or relative Certification upon hire preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Outstanding problem-solving and time management skills
- Self-motivated, self-directed, and results-oriented
- Adaptable and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Can work independently and within a team; solution-oriented with a collaborative approach
The pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. $50,000 (entry level qualifications) to $65,000 (highly experienced).
