Description Full Job Description About : Designed with input from nearly 1,000 South DeKalb community members, we are a tuition-free, public Kindergarten-8th grade South DeKalb charter school currently enrolling grades K-5 (adding a grade each year). Reports To: Operations Manager Position Summary: The Food Service Manager manages the cafeteria/nutrition services program and supporting school-based operations functions. This person ensures that meals are prepared and served in a safe, efficient, and welcoming way; and maintains compliance with federal, state, and local nutrition regulations. The responsibilities of the Food Service Manager will be delegated by the School Operations Manager. Daily duties will include: Oversee daily heating, serving, and clean-up of meals in accordance with the school’s nutrition program. Monitor food inventory, order supplies, maintain food-service equipment, and manage food cost controls and waste reduction. Ensure full compliance with local, state and federal guidelines (including USDA meal patterns, NSL, ServSafe or other food safety certifications). Maintain accurate production records, meal counts, participation numbers, invoices, and reporting required by the nutrition program. Help create a welcoming cafeteria environment, ensuring service is timely, customer-focused, and aligned with the school culture of excellence. Previous experience (1-3 years) in a school nutrition setting, food service program, or cafeteria operations preferred. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask and handle multiple operational priorities simultaneously. Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, ordering systems, meal-count software, and operational reports (experience with Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel a plus). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; commitment to working as part of a team in a fast-paced school environment. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry up to 40 pounds, work around food-service equipment and potential hazards (hot food, slippery floors, etc.). Must have reliable transportation to and from the work site. Must be able to successfully pass a nationwide criminal background check. High School Diploma or equivalent Benefits Competitive compensation commensurate on experience ($23/hour+) Compensation is based on , 180 instructional days (2 asynchronous), 19 professional development days, 11 paid holidays.
